Austin

Our next trip was to Austin. Sadly, our friends who we were going to visit got sick, so we had to adjust, but it ended up working out well. We stayed at Pecan Grove RV Park. It was kind of shocking to both of us that there was an RV park in the middle of Austin. That being said, the location was prime and made most attractions walkable. The first night we hit the streets and walked down South Congress, a hip area with lots of trendy restaurants and boutiques. It was super fun to just walk around and explore the cool shops and walk through the neighborhoods with unique houses. We also took a stroll along the Austin Riverwalk, which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting. Since we were still working, we frequented the Merit Coffee shop for breakfast and lunch, but that evening we went to House Wine and got a bottle and some adult lunchables (a.k.a. charcuterie).

The next day, after finishing our workdays at the coffee shop, we packed up a bag to walk to Barton Springs, which is a natural water spring located in Zilker Park. It is open to the public (for a fee) and many others were there when we arrived, swimming, lounging around, jumping off the diving board, and a surprising number of people were just doing yoga, independently, on the concrete side of the pool. While jumping in was met with initial shock, the cool water was welcome after a hot day. If people watching is your sort of thing, highly recommend a visit. There is no shortage of “weird” in Austin.

Our last day we met up with our friend from San Antonio (David – see previous posts) as he was in the city for work. He took us to some pretty great breweries and ultimately ended up at a Colombian restaurant, where we ordered almost every dish on the menu. While an exaggeration, it certainly felt that way afterwards. Delicious.

Until next time!
