The Beach

This is not going to be a super long post as I can only talk about beautiful beaches and relaxing days so much, but we did spend about a month on three different beaches. The first one was a small town called Bahia San Agustin. The camping was excellent as we parked one inch from the beach at a place called Don Taco. The facility had shared cooking and bathrooms but best of all were the gorgeous beach views. While here we went on a snorkeling trip and saw jumping Manta rays and the most beautiful and alive corral I have ever seen. The rest of the days were spent laying around, soaking up the sun, making dinners with friends we met at the camping area. At night, we watched stars, including numerous shooting stars. One night, we saw about 6 baby turtles making their way to the ocean. It was a truly magical week and a half.

Next, we drove along the coast to Playa Zipolite. While the camp site was not directly on the beach, it was a 5 minute walk. Zipolite was much more lively of a town than Bahia San Agustin, but still very relaxed. Vendors lined the streets at night selling mostly jewelry while others came to our beach spot during the day. It was again all about relaxing and soaking up the rays although Cam and I tried to get into somewhat of a route by running on the beach each morning. The water was quite rough so I only ventured in occasionally while Cam, being the fish he is, swam most of the time. We also met back up with many people we met at Don Taco and had a wonderful week hanging out again. Oh and forgot to mention...Zipolite is a nude beach. Honestly after a while you stop noticing, but it is rather jarring at first as an American.

Our last stop was Puerto Escondido. This was a much more lively place with multiple beaches. Here, we stayed in an Airbnb with friends we met, again at Don Taco. It was nice to take a break from the camper and to have ample space. It was also Christmas time so we wanted to truly celebrate by making some amazing food. We spent the days exploring the beaches and even did a bit more snorkeling (saw a full sized sea turtle!). We went to a brewery one night by scooter and made a Christmas Eve dinner of fish the other. Our other friends met us

It was honestly an amazing and the most fully relaxing experience that I have ever had. Did I do a whole lot? No. Did I spend most of my time pretending to be a beached whale? Yes. Like I said...amazing.

Until next time!
